When you decide on Monday that you will make fried chicken on Saturday, and then on Friday your co-worker brings you some of her 10-year old sourdough starter and just happens to mention that she uses it for making waffles, what does that mean?
Maybe only that the universe is shouting at you to MAKE CHICKEN AND WAFFLES IMMEDIATELY. Or at least on Sunday.
I mean, obviously.
I'm going to also pretend the universe told me to douse that fried chicken in hot sauce and then smother it in ranch dressing, THEN smash it between two puffy triangles of waffle, because no way was that 100% my idea.
The sliver of lettuce for decorum's sake, that was all me.
By the time you finish, there will be sweat running down your face and sauce running all over your hands, so best eaten alone or with very very good friends.
Buffalo Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwich
1 1/2 cups Fried Chicken, shredded or chopped
1/4 cup Frank's Red Hot Sauce
1 tsp butter
ranch dressing, to taste
1 large waffle, divided into quarters
- Heat hot sauce and butter together on the stove or in the microwave until butter is melted and sauce is hot. Stir together.
- Warm up fried chicken in a hot oven until crisp, then add the sauce and stir to coat.
- Toast waffle quarters to crisp up a little, then pile the chicken onto two quarters. Top with as much ranch dressing as desired and some lettuce, then top each with the remaining waffle quarters.
- Inhale quickly.
